More than 500 m 2 of trendy food, drink and party space in the shape of an exuberant jungle: welcome to the Titi Palacio!
In the new Morland Mixité Capitale eco-neighborhood, just emerging between the Ile de la Cité and the Jardin des Plantes, this urban refuge on the 1st floor of a modern building, where The People Paris Marais lifestyle hostel is housed on the upper floors, leaves no one indifferent: it produces a kind of enchantment on the travelers and Parisians brought to push open the door. This giant 2.0 greenhouse is designed as a place to travel, meet and share, combining in a single space, open all day long, different decorative inspirations, three atmospheres and an eclectic festive program. What’s on the menu? A restaurant featuring seasonal bistronomic cuisine, a 40-metre bar with a cutting-edge selection of beers and cocktails, a half-café, half-pub indoor guinguette and a perched patio terrace. A timeless bubble that’s hard to leave… Even if it means spending the night upstairs?
A hanging garden fantasy
Anchored in its environment, at the heart of the brand-new Morland eco-neighborhood, combining housing, a gourmet market, offices, local shops, restaurants and hotels – including the lifestyle hostel The People Paris Marais, located just above -, Titi Palacio is a free homage to London’s famous Crystal Palace, the gigantic planted glass roof that hosted the first Universal Exhibition in 1851. This 360° concept imagined by the Brasserie Rosie team, Juliette Cerdan and Kevin Caradeuc, and staged by young architect Olivier Lekien, takes up the idea – to take visitors on a journey in a single place – and the spirit, deploying on the second floor of a modern building with curves inspired by Oscar Niemeyer that would seem to be levitating, a greenhouse 2.0 of over 500 m2. Concealed high up, away from traffic, this urban hanging garden is accessed from Boulevard Morland through a discreet opening. In a single, wall-less concrete and glass space, with 5-metre high ceilings, it reveals a large-scale bar-restaurant where you can experience the Parisian effervescence from breakfast to the last drink. During the day, the space is bathed in light, while in the evening, it transforms into a festive greenhouse. Lush vegetation fills the atmosphere, like a phantasmagorical jungle. Everywhere, plants climb the structures, trees take root. The different species of plants are chosen for their suitability to the hygrometric conditions. If the space is cleverly divided, the place offers different atmospheres but retains its monumental perspectives. To begin with, a 200-seat indoor guinguette with a café atmosphere during the day, bar/pub in the evening. A little further on, the 40-metre-long central bar – the longest in Paris! – dressed in green zelliges and marble, is the nerve center of Titi Palacio, where everyone enjoys meeting up at the counter. At the far end, in a quieter setting, the bistronomic restaurant seats 80. Last but not least, the terrace extends over a loggia and high up, under (un)covered skies, so that it’s accessible whatever the weather. Whatever the space, the touches are eclectic and always cheerful: a bench around a tree as if in a village square, sculptures inspired by antiques, colorful pop signage, made-to-measure furniture, pastel colors, plant-covered arches… all contribute to creating a timeless bubble, inviting you to travel and disconnect.
A cheerful, bistronomic menu
Café, lunchtime canteen, tapas bar, real restaurant, the culinary offerings change according to the time of day and the mood. The only watchword? To serve fresh, plant-based, quality cuisine, without taking ourselves too seriously. For example, the sourcing of raw materials is meticulous, with seasonal products sourced as far as possible directly from producers (Ospital for charcuterie, the “A la Vache” farm for beef and poultry, Christophe Latour for vegetables, Montalet for pork…), keeping prices affordable by cutting out the middleman. As for the cuisine, with its many inspirations, it aims to be comforting, regressive and gourmet. Out of a desire and ecological awareness, half of the different menus feature vegetables. Lisa Desforges, former chef at L’Ami Jean, heads up the kitchen, cultivating a bistronomic spirit at lunchtime and in the evenings in this place of incredible proportions and festive atmosphere. The menu, with its terroir and canaille heritage, has a Mediterranean accent and a very “green” feel. Entirely homemade, the menu is relatively short to emphasize the freshness and quality of ingredients, and changes regularly to reflect the seasons: five starters, five main courses and a few desserts (€30-40 menu). On the first menu, for example, you’ll find a lovely caprese combining heirloom tomatoes and mozzarella with strawberries and peas, or a beef tartare on toast with gorilla pepper on the first course; a secreto – one of the tastiest parts of the Iberian pig – escorted by carrot, chanterelle and apricot purée, or the catch of the day, whiting colbert style; and finally, on the sweet side, a light rhubarb, strawberry and verbena ice soup, or a gourmet chocolate mousse with peanut and tamarind caramel ice cream. From the early hours of the morning, breakfast is offered to residents on the upper floors as well as to outside customers, with a coffee-croissant with Poitou-Charentes PDO butter. All day long: crunchy cookies, delicious tiramisu or fresh lemon pie. At lunchtime, the chef has devised a pitas menu, to be enjoyed bar-side, to offer busy locals a variation on her fast, healthy, high-quality cuisine, with a hint of the Levant: in a
bread pita product in Montreuil (Arc-en-Ciel Bakery), lamb meatballs, simmered cherry tomatoes and yoghurt sauce; feta cheese, chickpeas and hard-boiled eggs… At aperitif time, and more if you’re so inclined, demanding tapas parade across the counter: squid ink mayo whelks, lacquered poultry lollipops, homemade spiced terrine, heirloom tomato and raspberry gazpacho, not forgetting well-sourced cochonnaille and mature cheeses. On the liquids side, the same ambitions: quality remains the order of the day, with a sharp selection of craft beers and spirits, and a menu of creative cocktails (milk punch mojito, French-style spritz…). The wine list gives pride of place to independent winemakers, alternating between easy-drinking nuggets and more prestigious cuvées: Sauvignon Blanc “Plein la vue” by Jeff Carel, Blanc du Tue Boeuf, organic Graves “Qui est le Yin et le Yang” by Château Cazebonne or Alsace “La Colline Rouge” by Marcel Deiss.
Are you in the festive spirit?
With a huge 200-seat guinguette, a 40-metre bar and, for an extra touch of atmosphere, a DJ booth, the Titi Palacio is also and above all a lively party venue where locals and travellers alike come together to experience the buzz of Paris, to the rhythm of a top-notch events programme : concerts, DJ sets, match broadcasts (on 4 big TVs!) but also food markets, ephemeral sales, board game tournaments and themed evenings.
For a drink, to have fun, to dance or to eat, people come here all the time and stay a long time, even to sleep!
